ESN Athens AUEB Board 2016-2017

Irina Popescu- President

Student of AUEB, Department of  Acounting and Finance

Coucou everyone! My name is Irina and I am a Moldovan girl with a Greek heart and soul! I spent one of the most beautiful periods of my life – my Erasmus – in Marseille, France. I could talk for hours about that amazing time of my life but I think it’s better to be short and to the point - It was unforgettable and determined me and my future life! The difficult part about it was when it was time to leave but I refused to end there my Erasmus life that’s why I’m here, in ESN Athens AUEB. I am more than happy to be part of this big, international family and a partner in your Erasmus crimes. My exchange semester may have finished but this is not the end, it's just the beginning of my international journey!

Fun fact : I thought that only in Greece it is normal to dance on the tables…Oh, how wrong was I!

Alexandra Vlaserou- Secretary/ Vice President

Student of AUEB, Department of  Acounting and Finance

Hello guys! I am Alexandra and I am here because the Erasmus experience changed my life for good! I had the fortune to live in the most beautiful Scandinavian country (the amazing Norway) and make unique friends for a lifetime! Words are not enough to describe these 5 months and don’t be surprised if I tell you that one time wasn’t enough. That’s why, actually, I joined ESN, so to feel the erasmus love everyday! Another, awesome thing with the ESN is that I can actually be that person, that stays forever in the exchange students mind as “our best greek buddy”. Spread the love and remember: Sharing is caring ;)

Fun Fact: Try to hike in one of the most beautiful Norwegian mountains with 100 other internationals and be the last one to reach the top….it doesn’t feel right!!!

Xristianna Petsa- Treasurer

Student of AUEB, Department of Business and Administration

I was Erasmus in the capital of Scandinavia!!!Where??? Copenhagen,of course. Those four months were the most incredible experience in my life that changed forever. An amazing experience with a lot of first times. New friends from all over the world, new things you learned and changed you and a lot of traveling are the most important elements of Erasmus life ,but Erasmus never ends!!!!All these were my motive for enter ESN Athens AUEB because “Once Erasmus ,always ERASMUS”!!!!( no more post-erasmus depression)

Fun fact: Erasmus taught me how to party in the right way with the best people and the best drinks(tequila forever )!!!!!.

Smaragda Andrikaki- Webmaster (Fall Semester)

Student of AUEB, Department of Business and Administration

Hi!! I’m Smaragda, but for some of you it’s probably easier to call me Esmeralda. I’m studying Business Administration in Athens University of Economics and Business. In the fall of 2014-2015 I experienced my own amazing Erasmus semester in Uppsala, Sweden and I couldn’t have wished for a time more awesome and unique! After that, I couldn’t help but getting involved with ESN in order to meet and help other Erasmus students and also to avoid the famous “post-Erasmus depression”. And also because: once Erasmus… always Erasmus! Erasmus life lesson: never drink Minttu!!

Fun fact: She claims that no matter how much she drinks she won’t throw up… it’s a lie!

Giannis Iakovidis- Webmaster (Spring Semester)

Student of AUEB, Department of Management Science & Technology

Hello everyone!! I am Giannis and one year ago I spent 5 amazing months in Oslo, Norway. My Erasmus journey started early on August and ended on December. Hiked at some of the most breathtaking places in the world (Trolltunga, Preikestolen, Kjerag), ice caved in a glacier in Iceland, experienced dog sledding above the Arctic Circle and of course been to many Erasmus parties. It is obvious now that when I returned from Norway I had that “feeling”, the one that only people who have been on Erasmus know. My friends believed that I was falling in the post Erasmus depression so they urged me to start participating to the Esn events. Cure was found!!! I was enjoying life once again and I was even happier. The integration with students from all around the world revived me tremendously.

Fun Fact: Being in Norway for 5 months and watching the Northern Lights for the first time my last night!!

Ioanna Plakogianni- PR

Student of AUEB, Department of Marketing and Communications

Ok. So here is the thing about me: One year ago I was Erasmus in Madrid, Spain. I’ve spent the best 5,5 months of my life there. The friends I made, the trips I did, every alcoholic night with cervezas and chupitos of tequila will be forever in my heart and mind. It was definitely a life changing moment. What I’ve learnt is that it is not the place that makes an Erasmus experience special but the people you meet that soon enough become your family. I joined ESN right after my Erasmus to help all the Erasmus people that come to Athens and I soon gained another family here.

Fun Fact: I can’t help it when I listen to reggaeton music. I have to dance on a table!

Giannis Syrianos (aka Giannis Aksiwtis!!!) - Treasurer

Student of AUEB, Department of Acounting and Finance

I am 22 years old and I live in Athens for my whole life ( so I know it pretty good). I was erasmus in Finland,Helsinki, and it totally changed my life! It was probably the best period of my life, living so many experiences!! So when I came back, a year ago, I was feeling so depressed that I decided to continue somehow this life, by joining the ESN Section of my university!! So my erasmus still goes on! I love meeting people from different countries and traveling! I love sports, and especially football!

Fun fact about my erasmus: A Greek guy in Finland is already a fun fact! But after Finland, I promised to myself that I will never complain again about the cold in Greece!I was thinking that 5 degrees is cold, poor me!

Fun fact about my ESN life: My ESN-mates believe that I am the gossip guy! That’s so untrue! IT just happens to be on the right place,on the right moment!

Nikos (DM) Thomadakis – Web Master

Student of AUEB, Department of Informatics.

Going for Erasmus in Lithuania, has had traditionally a big impact on informatics students who ended up being volunteers in the ESN section of AUEB.
This could not have any difference for Nikos, a student of AUEB in the department of informatics who went for Erasmus in the city of Vilnius in Lithuania the autumn semester of the academic year of 2014-2015. This experience was meant to be the best he had ever lived and he could talk about it for hours, even days. However, it was not only about the crazy parties he had or the awesome journeys he went to. It was also this unique experience of living in a different  place, meeting new people from all over the world, taking care of himself  and broadening his horizons. All these above were what motivated him to join his local ESN section in order to continue this dream because as he believes: "Erasmus is like a fairytale, a movie. And it is the best one because we are the protagonists of it. We live it. We live the dream."

Fun fact : He initially thought that Erasmus was just for "studying". His thought were torn apart...or better were changed.

Thanasis Critharellis-PR

Student of AUEB, Department of Business and Administration.

Thanasis was an erasmus student in the amazing university town of Louvain-la-Neuve of Belgium. It was 4 months of wonderful experiences, lots of happy memories and joyful trips. During these months he had the best time of his life and made great friendships from all over the world. They had a lot of fun together and drank great belgian beers quite often. A LOT of belgian beers... So when he came back he was certain that he wanted to continue this experience and joined the ESN Athens AUEB.

Fun fact: Partying in his dorm with 32 people (yes 32 people predrinking in a single dorm). The result was more than a few going together and drunk to the town’s club.
